Choosing HPC Cloud vs On-Premises vs Hybrid Approach
HPC experts can complete a series of tasks which will determine the most cost effective source to place your HPC workloads: On-premises, Cloud or a hybrid of both. In order to determine this, they review:
- the ratio of computational intensity vs data intensity to help determine the most suitable hardware platforms.
- the nature of the scalability required specific to your workloads
- whether you have a need for specialist HPC VMs
- the cost of storage including length of time required
- the latency introduced by data-staging
- the priority of the job requests which your business links to the ‘value’ of a workload
- the cost of the VMs and the options available
